Cape Town - Travel is no longer reserved for only an elite few, or limited to going someplace amazing only once in your life.
Nope, with growing interest in travel by young adults, a whole new generation is on the rise - and they're bringing with them a whole new idea of travel too.
According to a recent study by youth travel operators Contiki, 71% of US millennials and post-millennials view experiences as the most important thing in their lives – which is why the top 20 places on their bucket lists aren't just destinations, they're actual things to do and experience.
The research showed that more than half of millennials view learning about other cultures and appreciating natural beauty as the most motivating reasons to travel. The majority of their travel decisions are largely influenced by their desire to have authentic social experiences (75%), followed by cultural (61%) and culinary (61%) experiences.
Using the survey, Contiki was able to create the ultimate No Regrets List - the top 20 bucket list travel experiences for millennials for 2017.
Bathing in Iceland's Blue Lagoon tops the list as the most desired travel experience for 2017, followed by seeing the Great Pyramids of Giza and walking the Great Wall of China. Learning how to make pizza in Italy, and riding a bike through Amsterdam also feature on the list.
