Cape Town - Nature-loving travellers and adventurers will often tell you about the thrills of being out in the open - exposed to the elements.
In most cases, such adventurers have the utmost respect for their surroundings, saying how they will 'roll with the punches' because they realise they are in the territory of creatures far more powerful than themselves.
Let's face it - humans are far down the line of 'power' when weighed against the giants that traverse this Earth - elephant, lion, bears; and in the oceans sharks and whales.
Yet these animals, however, are also graceful despite their strength and enormity...
This gracefulness was once again caught on camera in this stunning aerial footage taken off the coast of Maui in Hawaii.
Filmed by local Hawaiian ocean photographer Uheheu, the mesmerising video shows a single paddleboarder amid a pod of giant Northern Pacific humpback whales.
While it's certainly a risk to paddle so close to the 30-odd tonne whales (and illegal for whale tour operators), we would consider trading places with this paddleboarder any day - just looking at the once-in-a-lifetime moment he experienced.

The footage has been viewed more than 3.5 million times since it was uploaded to Facebook, with those commenting on the post expressing their sheer awe and wonder at these amazing creatures.
