Cape Town - FlySafair's newly appointed Vice President: Marketing Kirby Gordon, has once again confirmed the airline's commitment to delivering truly low-cost fares to the South African public.

“FlySafair has brought a travel product to market that I truly believe will change the game,” says newly appointed Vice President: Marketing, Kirby Gordon. “The excellent fare structure, combined with Safair’s 50 years of aviation expertise has already made waves in the market.”

“South Africans have seen low cost carriers come and go, but FlySafair will stick to its guns on the low cost approach — a great fare will always be the base. But we’re not naïve to the fact that a low fare alone won’t always win passengers over. We also need to build an experience and a suite of offerings that really add value to our customers’ lives.”

Gordon’s role is to be the custodian of the FlySafair brand, including promotion of the airline’s services, customer acquisition and retention, and looking after the airline’s reputation as a South African domestic carrier and an employer. He adds that one of the most exciting aspects of this new position is the opportunity to build a brand new business.

FlySafair has taken the decision to be consistently open, honest and transparent with its customers, even though this is not a formula the flying public is particularly familiar with.  When the airline has experienced inevitable delays, it has “owned up” to them on social media and other communication channels. Gordon says that although some may interpret this as a reflection of poor service, in fact FlySafair holds the best time performance of all of South Africa’s low cost airlines at the moment.

Commenting on the changing nature of the air transport industry in South Africa, he observes that each player has a different role and faces different challenges.

“What I do see, however, is that South Africa has a very interesting domestic travel customer,” he concludes. “Someone with a keen sense of adventure, who wants to see this country from coast to coast and expects to be able to do so with ease and without crippling fares. That’s where the future is pointing. We need to be able to offer true freedom of movement for people to travel for personal or business reasons.”
