Cape Town - Biodiversity conservation group and eco-tourism custodians in the Western Cape, CapeNature, has just launched a new online booking portal for all their self-catering accommodation products around the province.
Currently, the system allows explorers to book all self-catering accommodation - cabins, cottages and more - across all CapeNature reserves.
Additionally, senior citizen discounts cannot be processed online.
Travellers who would still like to book with the help of a CapeNature reservation agent can continue to do so as before via email or telephone at (021) 483-0190.
What you can't book online - yet
The booking portal, however, cannot be used to book any campsites or activities. Adventurers who would like to book a campsite or overnight hiking and/or canoe hut - like the ones on the Whale Trail, Whiskey Creek and Fountain Shack - or any day activity, still have to do so via email or telephone at (021) 483-0190.
CapeNature says, "The products that you can’t book online are strictly limited in terms of numbers, and our central agents need to manage this process."
The organisation will look to expand the online capacity in future they say, when they will add certain products such as camping to the booking capabilities.
How it works
CapeNature has designed a step-by-step guide to show travellers exactly how bookings can be done. All you need to do is follow the simple process outlined below.
CapeNature’s online booking portal uses a secure third-party credit card payment system provided by PayGate. The system accepts any Visa or Mastercard credit, debit or cheque card. Payment must be made in full, up front.
Your successful booking will appear in the ‘confirmed reservations’ tab on the online booking portal. You will also receive a payment confirmation email from PayGate, and a booking confirmation email from CapeNature, which will include an attachment with reserve details and rules.
NOTE: Remember to print this out and bring it to the reserve as proof of your booking.
If you mislay your confirmation, you may log in to the online booking system at any time, go to the confirmed reservations page, and hit ‘email confirmation’ and it will be emailed to the address you used to register online.
Changes and cancellations
If you've booked online, but need to cancel or change the booking, you can make any amendments or cancellations via email or telephone (021) 483-0190. In such cases, travellers should have their unique booking reference number at hand.
I’d prefer to deal with an agent, rather than booking online.
